It wasn’t to long ago that The Maple Leafs lost both Calvin Pickard and Curtis McElhinney to waivers and Leafs Nation was in an uproar over our goalie depth but with the arrival of Ian Scott and Joseph Woll that is no longer in question.
Ian Scott is coming off of a record breaking season in The WHL for The Prince Albert Raiders. In 49 Starts The Maple Leafs 4th round pick in 2017 post 1.83GAA & .932SV% with a record of 38-8-2. The 6’3 netminder would go on to win The WHL Cup along with being named MVP of the playoffs.
Joseph Woll on the other hand has had an up and down career since being drafted in the 3rd round in 2016, albeit the 6’4 Dardenne Prairie product has always maintained a respectable Goals Against Average and Save Percentage. In 37 games with Boston College this year he had a 2.41GAA & .919SV% despite a 13-21-3 record. This will be Joseph Woll’s first Camp with The Maple Leafs as he was committed to finishing School.
When The Maple Leafs prospects take The ice in Michigan this weekend a lot of eyes will be on the goalie tandum especially those of Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe. After a phenomenal end of season performance by Kasimir Kaskisuo and Michael Hutchinson expected to be battling for Leafs backup role with PTO Neuvirth it will be a crowded crease on The Maple Leafs affiliate come start of season.
Seek no more Leafs Nation, your goalie depth has arrived.
