For those who don’t know the CHL is The Canadian Hockey League and makes up 3 of Canada’s premier hockey leagues. The OHL (Ontario Hockey League), The WHL (Western Hockey League), and The QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League).
Let’s jump right into it !
Here are your 7 prospects headed to the playoffs:
Ian Scott G, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)4th RD pick 2017
Ian Scott had an absolute break out season for the Prince Albert Raiders breaking franchise records and backstopping them to 1st in The WHL.
In 49 games Scott went 38-8-2 with a .932SV% and 1.83GAA. He also accomplished a rare feat scoring into a empty net earlier the season.
Mac Hollowell RHD, SSM Greyhounds (OHL) 4th RD pick 2018
Although an Overager in The OHL Mac Hollowell put the Greyhounds defense on his shoulders this year, leading the OHL in goals and points by defenseman.
The speedy, puck moving defenseman had 24 goals 53 assists and 77 points with a +26
Ryan McGregor C, Sarnia Sting (OHL)
6th RD pick 2017
McGregor is the playbook for hardwork and drive, comparable to Maple Leafs grinder Zach Hyman, Ryan has a long road to get to the NHL but has the zero quit attitude to get there eventually.
McGregor broke out this year for 77 points in 61 games, 25 goals and 52 assist.
Semyon Der-Arguchinstev C, Peterborough Petes (OHL) 3rd RD pick 2018
SDA is an intriguing prospect, the youngest of all 2018 picks and made quite the impact on Leafs managment being one of the last players cut. However he hasn’t progressed much in The OHL.
In 62 games he had a career low 6 goals however set a new career mark in assists with 40 for 46 points on the year.
Riley Stotts C, Calgary Hitman (WHL)
3rd RD pick 2018
Riley brings an agitator/skill combo we’re not accustomed too in the Leafs organization, sometimes finding himself taking unnecessary penalties but a warrior mentality for his team.
However his offense has improved greatly with career highs all across the board with 19 goals 37 assists and 57 points.
Fedor Gordeev LHD, Guelph Storm (OHL) 5th RD pick 2017
Fedor Gordeev is an intriguing prospect, he has yet to sign an ELC and with a very crowded Marlies blue line he may find himself without one.
Gordeev finished the year with 7 goals 25 assists and 32 points in 63 games splitting time between The Flint Firebirds and Guelph Storm.
Filip Kral LHD, Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
5th RD pick 2018
Kral has had one of the most impressive years amongst our CHL prospects, he represented Czech Republic at The WJHC as well as broke career highs in 10 less games.
Kral had 10 goals, 26 assists, and 36 points in in 47 games with a +17.
Lastly, (stop reading if you like this kid) we have the lone Maple Leafs prospect who didn’t make the playoffs and had a very poor season.
Zachary Bouthilier G, Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) 7th RD pick 2018
Zachary as well as The Sea Dogs had a year to forget, they finished outside of the playoff picture something very few teams do.
In 18 starts Bouthilier went 3-10-2 with a 5.13 GAA and .882SV%.
