In kyle Dubas’ 1st draft as The Official Maple Leafs GM we saw a common occurence, Greyhounds players.
Kyle Dubas’ 1st ever GM job was that of the SSM Greyhounds (his home town) at the age of just 25, and as we’ve seen early in his Toronto Maple Leafs tenure he still holds a very high respect for their development system.
With their 1st round pick Dubas selected Rasmus Sandin, a European player who had joined the Greyhounds last year on loan.
Recently signed Mac Hollowell was a 4th round selection by the Maple Leafs also playing for The SSM Greyhounds.
Lastly was a camp invite, Keeghan Howdeshell whom has exploded offensively for the Greyhounds this year after 1 camp with the Maple Leafs, something to keep your eye on late in this years draft or as a undrafted signing by Dubas this summer.
The impressive part is the impact that these players have already made on the leafs organization.
Sandin is on The Marlies top pair and played for Team Sweden at the WJHC, While Mac Hollowell currently leads all defenseman in the OHL for goals (23) and points (72).
Although it may be a bit of a ‘homer’ move by Dubas it has panned out thus far.
